Adult Day Center
The Betty Larus Adult Day Health
Center at Avery
Heights provides a variety of health and social
services to older adults who do not need the continuous services of a
nursing home. Participants come to the center from their homes and
return home again after a busy day of activities. While caregivers
work, run errands or have a day to themselves, participants are engaged
in structured activities including arts and crafts, games, gardening,
and exercise. They are provided with activities to stimulate thinking
and problem solving skills. Entertainers are invited often to provide
enjoyable programs of music, dance and travel for our
participants. Our Music Therapist provides a very full program
combining songs, exercise and creative activities through
music. Participants also enjoy discovering artistic talents
through their involvement with our arts programs as well as the company
of others throughout the day.
Additional Services
- Nursing Services:
Regular assessment,
medication administration, health screening and monitoring.
- Social Services:
Information and Referral,
long-term care planning, financial assistance.
- Hot Meals and
Snacks: Breakfast, hot
lunch, snacks.
- Personal Care:
Showers, hair care,
manicures, personal hygiene care.
- Transportation:
Door-to-Door
transportation is provided from home to the center and back again
within Greater Hartford. Wheelchair transportation is available as well.
